Yes. Every LowKey Defense class is designed to welcome beginners. Our firearms safety, self-defense, and practical self-defense programs start with the fundamentals — safe handling, awareness, movement, and confidence — and build from there at a pace you're comfortable with. No prior experience required.
Many of our programs are women-focused and trauma-informed, creating a supportive, judgment-free environment for women learning firearms and self-defense. Private coaching can be arranged as fully women-only, and several License to Carry (LTC) Classes are designed specifically for women in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. There are also co-ed LTC and group defense classes.
For most classes, wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes you can move in. Bring water and a positive attitude. For firearms training, you'll receive a specific gear list before your class (eye and ear protection, ammo, and a firearm if you own one — rentals can be arranged). If you're unsure, just contact us and we'll walk you through it.
Yes. Private coaching is available for firearms training, self-defense, concealed carry preparation, and trauma-informed confidence building. One-on-one sessions are ideal for beginners, survivors of trauma, or anyone who prefers personalized, judgment-free instruction at their own pace.
LowKey Defense serves Dallas–Fort Worth area in Texas. Class locations vary by program and may include partner ranges, private training spaces, and community venues. Contact us for current locations and upcoming schedules.
No. Many of our students have never handled a firearm before. Our beginner firearms safety and handgun basics classes are built for first-time shooters, with a heavy focus on safety, mindset, and building confidence one step at a time. Experienced shooters can jump into defensive shooting fundamentals or concealed carry preparation.
